Abstract

The lack of protection of domestic workers has been repeatedly postponed by Spanish legislationand also is consequence of informality in the domestic sector, due to economic, political and cul-tural factors. The high informality of the sector condemns domestic workers, mostly migrantwomen, to be outside the Social Protection System and also to a return to precariousness in a pre-retirement stage, despite access to citizenship. This article analyses informality in domestic ser-vice and access to Social Protection for migrant women domestic workers, including Transna-tional Social Protection, from a longitudinal and gender perspective, taking into account thedifferent migratory and vital stages.
