Abstract
Organocatalysis and heterogeneous catalysts provide certain advantages from both the economical and environmental point of view. Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been prepared from imidazolium and dihidroimidazolium salts and turned out to be active and reusable organocatalysts for the Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with malononitrile and ethyl cyanoacetate under solvent-free conditions.
