Abstract

The relation predicted by extended irreversible thermodynamics between the nonequilibrium entropy and the frequency-dependent viscosity is confirmed from kinetic theory for dilute dumbbell solutions under shear. New relations between nonequilibrium entropy and the coefficients of the constitutive equations are discussed. © 1990 American Institute of Physics.
