Abstract
The research project Atlas histórico del español: morfosintaxis (AHE), led by Andrés Enrique-Arias, has found that the Corpus de documentos españoles anteriores a 1900 (CODEA+ 2022) -the corpus on which the AHE is based- lacked certain chancery documents from Aragon and Navarre from the 13th to 16th centuries for various reasons. This paper explains how the sources have been expanded to account for two fundamental characteristics of the corpus: the representativeness (Kabatek 2013) and the comparability (Enrique-Arias 2012) of the results obtained for Navarre and Aragon in the set of peninsular languages and dialects. Thus, the purpose of this article is threefold: 1) to present the qualitative and quantitative criteria that have been taken into account when selecting the documentation to ensure the greatest possible representativeness and comparability; 2) to highlight some methodological problems present in all texts emanating from the royal chancelleries; and 3) to describe the selection of documents.
