Abstract

Alternative forms of tourism and, more specifically, heritage industrial tourism are examined as a strategy for economic, environmental and scenic reconversion in areas which are suffering the effects of a profound socio-economic crisis, as a result of the disappearenace or restructuring of traditional economic activities. This process is examined in the case study of Cardona (Bages region), where attempts are being made to counteract the consequences of the abandonment of mining (1990), formerly the principal productive sector of the economy. -English summary
