Abstract

Women become a critical element in the labour grievances of workers in conflict in three cases (Roca Radiadores, Motor Ibérica and LAFORSA). The wife or companion abandons her role in the reproductive area, which is linked to the private environment, home and non professional work (in the sense of non remunerated work), to be present in the public environment, which had been so far reserved to men. This change takes place within a certain social structure and in the years immediately after Franco's death. This public interaction will later foster areas of sociability that had not been frequent in the previous stage: the appointment of women as representatives in neighbourhoods and their grievances.
