Minimal speed of fronts of reaction-convection-diffusion equations

    Abstract

    The minimal speed of propagating fronts of convection-reaction-diffusion equations was analyzed. A variational principle for the minimal speed of the waves was also constructed from which upper and lower bounds are obtained. It was suggested that convective term produces no effect on the minimal speed of the fronts if it is not strong enough. It was also suggested that it the convective term is not strong, minimum speed is determined by the reaction term alone.
