    Abstract

This paper presents an approach to the design of the feedforward or prefilter components in a Two-Degree-Of-Freedom (2-DOF) configuration. The approach is based on the use of a Model Reference specification for the desired input-output relation. An optimal model matching problem in the min-max sense is solved in order to get the optimal prefilter. As a second step, a detuning procedure is proposed in order to take into account for the effect on the control signal. After an analysis of the 2-DOF configurations found in the literature it is seen that the proposed approach is not limited to a specific controller structure.
