Abstract

The CERN charm photoproduction experiment NA14/2 has studied the K+K-π+, φπ+, φπ+π0, and φπ+π+π- decay modes of the Ds+ and D+ charmed mesons, and the corresponding charge conjugate states. We measure branching ratios: Br(D+→φπ+) Br(D+→K-π+π+)=0.098±0.032±0.014, Br(Ds+→K*0K+) Br(Ds+→φπ+)=0.85±0.34±0.20, and obtain upper for the other channels. Contrary to the prediction of some theoretical models, we do noy observe any decay of Ds into φρ. Using the Lund Monte Carlo to hadronize the final-state partons we derive a value for the absolute branching fraction Br(Ds+ → φπ+) =4.8±1.9%. © 1990.
