Abstract
In this article we will study the treatment of the motive of ξενοκτονία or murder of a guest in Euripides' Hecuba. Through the detailed analysis of some passages, we will try to demonstrate that the transgression of ξενία is the main subject of the plot and the key to understanding the development of Hecuba's character.
