Abstract
A ‘Song Map’ is a song that builds through narrative a special ordered, memorable and geographical space through the names of places (a country, a valley or a longer journey). In the Catalan oral tradition there are a number of songs with these characteristics, but they have never been studied from this angle until now. This article studies some examples of these songs, finding three different structuring procedures and investigating the historical depth of this oral resource, to which hitherto very little attention has been paid.
