Abstract
This article discusses Macedonian-Catalan translation. The truth is that the author has failed to identify any literary work that illustrates this combination, in either direction. This result is no surprise, given the little interest that Macedonia and the Macedonian historically have raised in Catalonia, and given the persistent implicit belief that the Macedonian language is not a fullfledged standard language but rather a speech related to Bulgarian. In view of this situation the author has chosen a selection of Macedonian authors which could be translated into Catalan (in some cases, which will be translated into Catalan), after a brief presentation of the standardization of Macedonian as an Ausbausprache in the framework of the intricate history of Macedonia, a former Ottoman province coveted by Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians.
