Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyse some aspects in the digitization of port state control (PSC), in particular the admission of statutory electronic certificates, and the inspection database in the European Union and Paris MoU, the THETIS information system. It must be anticipated, in any case, that the human factor will remain the most relevant. The process is not fully digitized, as inspections are carried out physically on board and by officials coordinated by the Port State Control Officer (PSCO). Digitization and artificial intelligence assist inspection, but PSC does not yet involve a fully automated process.
