Abstract

In this article we pretend to study the town halls of the xviith and xviiith centuries as an example of official architecture, centered in a concrete area of Catalunya: the lands of Lleida. In the studied examples the forms of Gothic origin cohabit with the introduction of classic elements. The most representative buildings in this area are the town halls of Tárrega and Cervera, built during the xviith century and those of Agramunt and Almenar, built during the second half of the xviiith century. In spite of this chronological difference, these last examples follow the morphology characteristic of the buildings of the xviith century, excepting some renovation as the introduction of ionic pilasters. Finally and after the xixth century, the plan of reconstruction of public buildings in the decade of 1940, after the spanish civil war, will recover to type of town hall based on the forms characteristic of the xviith century, using the same elements as the gallery and the porch.
