Abstract
The thermodynamics of flowing polynomer solutions were analyzed using a Legendre transform linking two different nonequilibrium variables. One of the variable depends on the viscous pressure tensor while the other one on the configuration tensor. The relationship between the chemical potentials dependent on the nonequilibrium variables was determined and the use of equilibrium thermodynamics in the study of flowing polymer solutions was discussed.
