La recepció; del fulletó; francès a Catalunya al segle XIX. Tres traduccions de l'inici del cicle d'aventures de Rocambole, de Ponson du Terrail, publicades a Barcelona

Throughout the second half of the nineteenth century, the extension of primary education in France led to a large increase in the percentage of literate population that was eager to read, but did not have access to books because of its high prices. An explosion of popular literature took place, one of whose forms were the brochure novels inserted in the press, which became a real phenomenon of masses. Many of these novels were translated into other languages and also achieved great success. In this article, we will look at three translations of Pierre-Alexis Ponson du Terrail's books published in Barcelona in Spanish language in the nineteenth century. After making a presentation of the Rocambole novels series -publication, biography of the author, plot- we will compare different aspects of the translations, paying attention to aspects such as the original text, the names of the characters, the solutions of foreignization and strangenization, foreigner words of the original, difficult terms to translate, the jargon and the notes of the translators.
