Abstract

In the year 2019, it was the tenth anniversary of the Platform for People Affected by Mortgages (PAH from now on), born in Barcelona in February 2009. On the occasion of this anniversary, a group of social science researchers, knowing about the experience of the platform, met with militant researchers to celebrate and analyse the first decade of an actor that is fundamental to understanding the struggle for the right to housing and social mobilisation in the context of the crisis in Spain. This book aims, firstly, to celebrate the milestone achieved by PAH: fulfilling its first 10 years of life and having become a crucial player in understanding the fight for the right to housing and social mobilisation in the context of the crisis in Spain. Secondly, this book aims to contribute to understanding the processes of civic organisation and defence of individual and collective rights, as well as analysing the inherent tensions of any social group and the challenges of organised groups within PAH. Thirdly, this book wants to participate in the debate on legacies, strategies and impacts and perspectives of social movements developed in Spain during times of crisis. Fourthly, but no less important, this book is a way of thanking the "PAH family", who have integrated us with generosity and patience into their daily lives as observers. Hopefully, the critical and analytical perspective offered by this book will serve to restore a small part of everything that PAH has given us.
