Abstract
Miguel Alonso investigates in an article the perception of the Spanish Civil War which shared foreign combatants who fought alongside the rebel side. Through the analysis of this combatants memoirs, war diaries and letters, the author finds that besides the belief in the project of a counterrevolutionary Europe, an essential motivation for joining the fascists was the defence of what they believed as the European Christian Civilization.
