Abstract

This paper is about the communities of practice as a response of training to promote collaborative work and the creation and management of knowledge in the field of public administration. In particular, it analyzes the experience of communities of practice carried out by the Catalan Public Administration of Justice through the «Compartim» program, and it pays attention to the main factors of success and the resistance that stems from it. The possibilities for professional and organizational development, process improvement and the need to participate and collaborate to know and learn, are the main lessons drawn from the implementation and operation of communities of practice.
