La censura franquista en la traducció de "Dissabte a la nit i diumenge al matí" (1967), d'Alan Sillitoe

In the context of the resumption of Catalan translation at the beginning of the 1960s, Edicions 62 requested the permission to publish the translated novel Dissabte a la nit i diumenge al matí, by Alan Sillitoe. In spite of the apparent political openness, the work was twice prohibited due to sexual morality before the censors began to consider its approval with certain restrictions. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the development of some complex administrative procedures that lasted more than three years, as well as highlighting the coercive and often arbitrary practices of the Francoist censorship machinery. To this end, we will first examine the censorship files and, secondly, we will contrast, by way of an example, the sentences underlined in the translation of Antoni Pigrau and the final version published in 1967.
