ABSTRACT The diminution of the impact of the distance, in the exchange of material and nonma- terial flows, in the economic activity networks has changed the business structure. New economy reorganizes the global regions and generates a new industrial location model. The main objective of this article is to analyze the changes in the local development of remote areas in Catalonia caused by the increase of the nonmaterial flows during the productive process of the firm.
