Abstract

Larticle anaiitza Ies queixes de diferents grups de ciutadans de la Barceiona de finals del segle XVII, amb motiu de les molèsties produïdes per la contaminació de laire. Exposa la tipologia de les protestes; l'actitud de l'Ajuntament; les solucions tecnològiques¡ científiques suggerides; i la concepció científica de laire que regia totes les actuacions. Larticle segueix la línia de la història de la tecnologia urbana i les seves relacions amb el medi ambient. Estableix parallelismes amb les polítiques illustrades de control de laire a França, amb les polítiques delevació de Ies xemeneies dels segles xix i xx, amb els Smoke Abatement Movement del segle, i amb els treballs que manifesten les relacions entre les crisis energtiques i laugment de la contaminació.
