Abstract
When chance and randomness perform the processes of design they lead to a shift of the role of the consumer from the initial idea as a user to the nowadays role as interplayer. But user interference in the production design is not only a physical intrusion into the process as coauthor, but, and perhaps more importantly, is an inoculation of a critical, “other”, view in the product conceived by the designer. Thus chance and randomness are employed as critical devices that built the object of design in both its formal and conceptual content.
