Abstract

Gastric motility disorders pose a difficult yet common clinical problem. This paper briefly reviews the motor physiology of the stomach and the mechanisms of different clinical disorders associated with disturbed gastric emptying. The most useful diagnostic methods and the interpretation of their results are described. Finally, the current therapeutic possibilities are discussed, and future prospects are suggested. © 1989 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.
