Abstract

The scalar resonance a0(980) and K0(1250-1430) are suggested to be isoscalar members of a conventional, i.e. quark-antiquark, SU(3) octet. This result follows from the use of a Resonance Saturation hypothesis in Chiral Perturbation Theory and should be relevant when identifying the remaining unflavoured, isoscalar members of the multiplet, and, possibly, the related scalar glueballs. © 1994.
