Abstract
The present study explores the evolution of the notion of the environment that Chilean pedagogy students deploy in basic education, throughout the development of a constructivist workshop on Environmental Education (EA), assuming the need to update it in Chile. In theoretical terms, the review of various positions regarding the understanding of the environment and its identification, through methodologies considered with the complexity of environmental phenomena, gave way to the use of these depending on the type of notion considered, their frequency along of work and the degree of complexity that they acquired over time. In this sense, the results obtained, show a progressive development of the notions of environment in students, which increase in quantity and complexity, an auspicious condition before the problem exposed for Chile.
