Abstract

The evaluation of the geographical space where the protected nature reserves are placed, besides their natural value, requires another type of analysis that helps to value the space from a global and holistic point of view. Georges Bertrand suggested in 2000 a new method: the GTP model. This model describes and analyses the geographical space system integrating Geosystem, Territory and Paysage (Landscape). We present the application of this methodology in the High Pyrenees Natural Park. The result is the ’Landscapes Catalogue’. This approach represents a good opportunity for evaluating geographical space in general and particularly for the surrounding of Natural reserves. Landscape characterization is a basic point in any Naturbanization approach.
