Abstract

This paper focuses on some ﬁgurines from Tell Asmar (ancient Ešnunna). Our study
is divided into two parts: ﬁrst, a description of the images, in which we focus on
the physical features of the terracottas themselves and on their decoration. Second,
some proposals for their interpretation, concentrating on two main topics: the sensory perspective, and the sex identities and gender roles of the ﬁgurines.
