Abstract

The content of this research offers a specific study, from the diatopic perspective, of the first four editions of the Diccionario de la lengua castellana of the Real Academia Española (1780-1803). The lemmas, sublemmas or complex words containing abbreviations typical of the Eastern Spanish from the Iberian Peninsula are analysed. The contrast between the different dictionaries will allow to establish the lexicological characteristics of the area that represent and detect possible incorporations into general Spanish that already occur in the early nineteenth century.
