Sharecropping existence could be situated in a wide range of different agrarians systems through space and time. Nowadays, this productive system is a key element to understand social relations established among different social actors in front of productive transformations provoked by agrarian modernization at world level and specifically in Latinamerica. This paper wants to present a case study were sharecropping appears as a production system that links two types of economic rationalities put in practice by some farmers within transformations generated in Latinamerica agrarian modernization. After a general reference to theoretical streams of research that have dealt with this problematic, specially in this region, results obtained in a study carry out in an area of the margin of Mendoza's North Oasis (Argentina) are presented.
