Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to analyze the terminological choices made in the Spanish translation of the German word "Gemüt" in Kant's work. We will briefly consider some core aspects of Kant's thinking in order to justify the systematic relevance of this concept and examine its meaning in the eighteenth century, as well as its possible Spanish translations. Finally, we will consider the main Spanish translations of Kant's work -especially his Critique of Pure Reason (1781)- in relation to the historical context in which they arose and the influences received through translations into other languages.
