The cinematographic production in spanish is increasing, as well as its projection in other countries. due to this fact, its audiovisual translation is an important subject of study since films are, in many occasions, values and cultural characteristics' exporters of the countries they come from. on another hand, the translation of the linguistic variety is a problem in audiovisual translation, especially the dubbing. therefore, this article attempts to analyze the transfer of some aspects of the linguistic varieties in the films Like Water for Chocolate (arau, 1992) and Motorcycle Diaries (salles, 2004) in its translation from spanish into german for the dubbing. Firstly, it revises in brief the theoretical framework in which this study is situated and, later, it analyzes the most representative and difficult elements to translate regarding the different linguistic varieties found in these films. © Fatiso.
