    Abstract

    © 2018 IEEE. A differential paramagnetic approach is used for the demagnetizing correction of solenoid measurements of soft magnetic cylinders. In this approach, an accurately calculated fluxmetric demagnetizing factor for a paramagnetic cylinder of length-to-diameter ratio γ and material susceptibility χ, Nf(γ,χ), is used for the correction, with χ deduced from each value of differential susceptibility on the measured magnetization curve. The corrected properties of cylinders with large γ may be used as a standard, with small systematic errors being carefully considered.
