Abstract
One of the elements that has caused more debate within contemporary historiography has been why so many people were seduced by fascism and involved themselves in processes of massive violence all over the European continent. Something that, despite having generated a wide number of monographs and articles, has been barely tackled from a perspective focused on these individuals. In this sense, this articles aims to approach to one of the motivations lying behind the great appeal of fascism, indeed the role played by religion as a socializing tool of fascist ideology. This through a study focused on the combatants of the rebel side during the Spanish Civil war.
