Abstract
The renewed interest observed at international level on the critical approaches in geography (GeoForum, 2004; IV Conferencia Internacional de Geografía Crítica, 2005) is a good reason to make us reflect on the evolution of critical geography in Spain from the coming of the democracy and to contribute with our experience. Moreover, the political history of Spain in the last thirty years has created a very good climate for the birth or resurgence of a critical thought in geography. The article jointly analyzes the evolution of geography in our country with the one of the political and academic context in which this one was.
