Abstract
Paleomagnetic analysis of the section of Purcal (Granada Basin) shows that the entire sequence has reversed polarity. The micromammal fauna contains elements that are typical of the latest Miocene, and others that are earliest Pliocene; both are characteristic of humid surroundings. The section should be placed in Chron C3r, and the fauna indicates the Miocene-Pliocene transition.
