Abstract
© 2013 ISAKOS. All rights are reserved. The meniscus performs critical physiological as well as biomechanical functions within the knee. It distributes loads across adjacent articular cartilage thereby protecting the hyaline cartilage from wear. Meniscal tears are one of the most common injuries of this joint leading to the surgical excision of the injured tissue in most of the cases.
