Abstract
This article explores the diplomatic activity of the Parliament of Catalonia toward a specific area, such as the southern and eastern Mediterranean, and particularly concentrating on the ninth and tenth parliamentary terms. This analysis forms part of the connection between studies of substate diplomacy and parliamentary diplomacy. Both types of diplomacy have been the subject of interest over the past few years, driven by the growing plurality of international processes. The initial focus on industrialized Western countries has been expanded with the incorporation of new countries, such as the emerging countries.
