Abstract
Narrative songs and ballads have been seen to be socially important in the studies of the Osona Folklore Research Group. The observation of how the singers articulated memory, the creative capacity and musical imagination regarding these genres has enabled them to formulate a series of comparative reflections between "old balladists" and new technological uses. The author formulates a hypothesis about flexible and fixed memory, and about how we can equip our internal memory with the memory transferred to external technological devices. He concludes with the challenges to be faced in the future. © Patronat d'Estudis Osonencs.
