Abstract

Just after the civil war Franco's regime began the process to impose ideological and also linguistic uniformity in culture and publishing fields. They enacted all kinds of prohibitions, particularly anything that came from abroad, representing a dangerous «open window to the world» which the dictatorship wanted to prevent from becoming a «driver door.» Thus, the translation watched closely especially in Catalonia, suffered great difficulties because of autarky and localism that prevailed in the post-war period shut world.
