"Auctor damnatus": del libro reprobado al autor prohibido (1557-1613)

This article intends to examine how the category of auctor damnatus or primae classis was set up in Rome in the mid-16th century, what are the implications and consequences of the use of this concept in the Roman censorship policy, and what was the treatment given to this idea by the Spanish Inquisition, which did not adopt it, either as a category or as a structural principle, until 1613, that is, until the promulgation of Bernardo de Sandoval’s index.
