Abstract
The temporal ownership and the shared ownership are new intermediate tenures which were introduced into the Catalan Civil Code by the Act 19/2016, 29th July. The goal of the Catalan lawmaker was to facilitate affordable housing by creating new tenures to overcome the property-rental binomial. Nevertheless, in order to become real alternatives in the housing market, mortgage and registry Spanish legal framework should be adapted to remove obstacles to finance both tenancies.
