Abstract
In recent years, monographic studies on the relationship between Nazism and Ancient Orientalism have multiplied, especially in disciplines such as Egyptology and Biblical Studies. By contrast, Assyriology, at least until now, has been left out of this trend. This paper analyses a paradigmatic example of the close ties between Assyriology and Nazism. Through this example we will show the deep influence of this ideology on Wolfram von Soden's work and his writing of the history of Ancient Mesopotamia.
