Abstract
The molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the electrostatics of two charged surfactant layers in aqueous media (surfactant/water/surfactant films). In the films studied, the polarization was maximum at the interfaces and decayed from the interfaces inside the aqueous core with a decay length of order of ∼10 Å. The results were found inconsistent with a local relation between the water polarization and the electric field. The electrostatic potential inside the aqueous core of the films was found to be completely different from that expected for a film containing a dielectric medium with dielectric constant of water.
