Abstract
The humor derived from misunderstandings, such as disguises, play-within-a-play, personae exchanges, comical wits, asides, confusions or coincidences, was a common resource used in many Golden Age Spanish playwrights. By setting all these elements, and the unique task of a dama tracista, laugh and fun was guaranteed in the Spanish playhouses known as corral de comedias. El vergonzoso en palacio by Tirso de Molina offers a perfect combination of such strategies. The article analyses the comical elements used by Tirso de Molina in this comedy of errors.
