The paper dealts with general issues on the regulation of the employment of people with disabilities. Firstly, the article focuses on the lack of reforms in recent years, and it stresses the urgent need of redirecting regulations towards disabled people affected by deep impairments considering their low activity and employment rates. Secondly, the paper aproches the wide legal concept of person with disability in the field of employment regulations, and it analyzes the last sentences of the Supreme Court againts equality of legal status among people who draw compensations for permanent disabilities and, in general, persons with disabilies. Besides, the article calls atention to the consequences of this case law. Then, the paper proposes the application of equaility plans to the field of disability in order to avoid clear discriminations; namely,the proposal focuses on companies with 50 or more employees. Finally the paper proposes some changes in the reductions of Social Security corporate contributions in order to foster the employment of people with severe disabilities.
