Abstract

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is an acute, rare and potentially life-threatening, thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) characterised clinically by the pentad of fever, microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, renal involvement and brain dysfunction, with severe deficiency (]. Plasma-based therapy comprising the replacement of ADAMTS-13 together with high-dose i.v. methylprednisolone is the mainstay of treatment for TTP.
