Abstract
In recent years, the Real Academia Española has published a series of dictionaries, at first blush all different, but that had much in common: the Diccionario panhispánico de dudas (2005), the Diccionario del estudiante (2005 and 2011), and the Diccionario esencial del español (2006). All these publications have in common the same purpose: to assist correct usage of the Spanish language. The present study will carry out a contrastive analysis of orthographic (e.g. accents, graphic variants, new words, and capitalization) and morphological information (e.g. gender and number) found in recent academic publications with an eye to proposing a new methodological framework based on present standards and possible future developments employed in the drae.
