Abstract

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista's participation at FIFA Clubs World Cup in Japan has attracted the attention of a considerable part of Brazilian media. The news framed on it, and reported not only on sports sections, are an interesting object to analyze aspects such as stereotypes constructions, prejudices and ideologies establishment. Taking into account this context, we have analyzed a set of news from "Food" section at "Folha de S. Paulo" that proposes a sort of guide to help Corinthians fans' in Japan. For that we have applied Critical Discourse Analysis, John B. Thompson and Pierre Bourdieu works, among others. As a conclusion, we argue that the analyzed texts are ideological considering that they hold on the audience in a cultural domination position and reinforce class domination.
