Un model animal de vulnerabilitat emotiva: caracterització conductual, endocrinològica, neuroquímica i genètica en línees consanguínies derivades de las rates "Roman high-and low-avoidance"

Project Details

The main aim of this project consists in producing and studying an inbred line of rats derived from the \b Roman High and Low avoidance\b0 which have been shown to differ in emotional reactivity and stimulus seeking behavior. The first is obtaining a behavioural, endocrinological and neurochemical profile in such inbred animals. A battery of behavioral tests, hormonal measures from the HPA axis and parameters of GABA/Benzodiazepine and Dopaminergic function will be used. The second target is the detection of the chromosomal loci (through Quantitative trait loci - QTL - tecvhniques applied to recombinant rats obtained from RHA/Verh x RLA/Verh and F\sub 1\nosub crossings), associated to the behavioral profile characteristic of emotional reactivity. In this way we hope to contribute to a better a description and understanding of the genetic weight of some traits connected with the vulnerability for anxiety disorders, addictive behaviors and impulse control disorders.
